Tournament Regulations
See also our Host Code of Conduct.

Introduction
Whereas the Host Code of Conduct specifies general rules for Host conduct, behavior, and policies, the Tournament Policy contains specific rules that Hosts must follow when conducting tournaments at GamingPeak. Some gaming sites do not have such specific rules; however, we are striving to create a consistent and quality tournament atmosphere at GamingPeak. If you have questions regarding these regulations, contact the Tournament Committee for clarification.
These guidelines are to be viewed as an extension of the Host Code of Conduct and must be followed.
GamingPeak Events
Events held on GamingPeak comprise any tournament or series of tournaments that reaps special benefits, such as GIF awards or a special celebration. Event coordinators should send out invitations to participate to those targeted by said event. Events should be titled according to what is being celebrated, honored, etc. There are two types of events:
GamingPeak Events
GamingPeak Events describe events managed by the Tournament Club/Events Subcommittee. The TC will invite and select hosts for GamingPeak events.Non-GamingPeak Events
Any event not managed by the Tournament Committee is a non-GamingPeak event. This includes club events, independent hosts' events, and any other event not managed by the TC. Non-GamingPeak Events may not describe or advertise events as "Official" GamingPeak Events or otherwise construe the events as being sponsored or endorsed by GamingPeak. Non-GamingPeak Events must be hosted, and scheduled, by a GamingPeak Host according to the policies below.
Scheduling Events
The Event Room(s) on GamingPeak may be used for preapproved “Events” only. The Tournament Club/Events Subcommittee manages the use and scheduling of the Event Rooms. Permission must be obtained from the Club/Events Subcommittee, as outlined here:Process for Submitting and Scheduling Events
- Submit your event to the Club/Events Subcommittee.
- Events must be submitted and hosted by a GamingPeak Host.
- Be prepared to submit your macros, award GIFs, theme, etc. to the Tournament Committee upon request.
- Requests must be submitted one to four weeks in advance.
- Events must be submitted and hosted by a GamingPeak Host.
- The Tournament Committee / Events Subcommittee will review your application, considering the following factors:
- Host Experience (Is the Host capable of running the event in a professional fashion?)
- Event Organization (Were the macros, awards, theme, etc. prepared so that the event can be run smoothly?)
- Adherence to GP Policies (Is the event in line with the Code of Conduct, Tournament Policies, etc?)
- Upon approval, your event will be placed on the schedule. If there were any problems with your submission, you will be contacted regarding any revisions needed for resubmission.
Tournament Scheduling
When GamingPeak creates an automatic / web interface for scheduling, hosts will enter tournaments through it. Until then, there shall be a designated “tournament scheduler” who will be the point of contact for scheduling tournaments.
You must contact the scheduler to reserve your time slot for a tournament.
There shall be a calendar publicly viewable to indicate when tournaments are occurring. You may request to add a tournament to any available time slot.
The scheduler may not be able to accommodate your request if there are already tournaments running in that time slot. When the community at GP is small, too many tournaments will split the players too much.
As a general rule, regular tournaments shall be scheduled at the top of the hour, and alternative tournaments shall be scheduled at the bottom of the hour. TOC’s and spurs are two examples of exceptions to the rule.
Tournaments of Champions must be scheduled at least one week in advance. Tournaments of Champions are invite-only events. Open TOC’s are not allowed.
Hosts who plan to lobby host must check room availability and request to schedule in Tournament Rooms 2 or 3. Tournament Room 1 is reserved for table hosting only.
Continuous tournaments are currently limited to GamingPeak and club sponsored events only. Continuous tournaments are where ins are taken continuously and assignments are sent out whenever the host gets a designated number of teams.
Spur Tournament Rooms are to be used for spur-of-the-moment tournaments. Tournaments hosted in the spur room do NOT have to follow the scheduling format but should in no way conflict with tournaments on the schedule. If you are hosting a tournament in the spur room, do not take entries within thirty minutes of the next scheduled tournament.
Guest Hosts
At this time, only GamingPeak Hosts or Host Interns will be allowed to host tournaments.
Before a Tournament
Hosts must be in the tournament room to begin taking tournament ins 30 minutes prior to the start time of the tournament. Please do not begin ins if there is an ongoing tournament that is not filled, this includes spur tournaments. Hosts may take up to 5 minutes from scheduled start time to fill their brackets. Once the host has communicated that his/her tournament is filled, you should begin taking ins. Communication among hosts is very important to keep tournament rooms running smoothly.
If a tournament is scheduled less than an hour from start time of the current tournament, no more than 3 more ins may be accepted in order to even out brackets. Otherwise, it is the host’s option to take additional ins up to 15 minutes past start time. The additional ins must be taken after initial assignments. It is unfair to keep players waiting.
Prior to the start of a tournament, the host will provide the players with a set of rules or a link (http://www.gamingpeak.com/policies/tournamentplay) to Gaming Peak's General Tournament Rules. The host's rules may vary, and if clearly stated in the rules run, will supercede the GP COC during that tournament. The host is expected to enforce the rules run at the beginning of a tournament throughout the entire tournament.
Start your tournament within 5 minutes of scheduled start time.
During a Tournament
Byes must be given out by the host in a consistent manner.
Multiple banners may only be awarded if there are over sixteen (16) teams in a tournament.
Time Regulations
Please use these times for events in your tournament. Consistent use helps all players have a positive experience.
- Maximum Wait Time for a team waiting to start after assignments have been given: 5 minutes
- Maximum Delay in Play time: 2 minutes
- Maximum time allowed for boot: 5 minutes
- Maximum time allowed for breaks in between games: 5 minutes
Atmosphere of Tournament Rooms
The hosts are to set the atmosphere for the tournament rooms i.e. how strictly the CoC is enforced, what is allowed and what is not. It is very important that the hosts all follow the same rules. Hosts may use their tools as they deem necessary to keep the tournament running smoothly. We highly recommend using voice through whispers and grey boxes before working your way up to gags and boots. You are responsible for upholding the CoC during your tournament. You are welcome to request a sysop manage the lobby for you but the sysop will not interfere with the running of your tournament.
Inappropriate Nicks
Use Whisper asking the player to change his name if you feel it is inappropriate. If he refuses to change, you may refuse admittance into your tournament.
No Multiple Rooms or Games
All hosts are required to enforce the no multitasking rule. Players are not allowed to be in more than 1 room or game while playing in a tournament. Please be sure the players are aware of this and enforce it when it is brought to your attention.
